IMPORTANT

On February 10, 2011 Facebook made an announcement that made the process of
creating Fan Pages with rich content much simpler than before. It involved using
iFrames (which is like a page contained inside a page). This was a big step from the
previous technology, which required learning a new programming language, called
FBML in order to create custom tabs in Fan Pages. You can read the announcement
here.

Shortly after the iFrame technology became available for creating custom Fan Pages,
we released our WP Fan Pro WordPress Theme, which made it even simpler to create
Fan Pages with advanced functionality, such as Like/Reveal, which requires a visitor to
like your page before being able to see “premium” content on the page.
With the iFrame technology and WP Fan Pro, creating feature reach Fan Pages had
never been simpler!

Then, on May 23rd, 2011, Facebook announced some changes. While the iFrame
technology, is here to stay, Facebook announced that content displayed in the Fan
Page iFrames would be required to be served from a domain using SSL for security
reasons.

SSL, which stands for Secure Sockets Layer, is a technology for encrypting
communications between the web browser and the web server. This is the same
technology used to protect online banking. Many web surfers have been taught by their
banks to look for the “Lock” symbol on their browser to identify a secure connection.
When you are on a site that displays the “Lock” on your browser, it means that site has
SSL enabled. SSL sites are accessed via “https://” while non-SSL sites are accessed
via “http://.”

SSL is configured on a per hostname basis (such as www.example.com). If you use
subdomains, such as mysubdomain.example.com, and you want your subdomain to be
SSL enabled as well, then you must obtain an SSL certificate for the subdomain as well.
The process for obtaining and installing an SSL certificate is made up of a lot of steps,
but it is not difficult. This guide will provide you a step-by-step set of instructions that
will guide you through the entire process. The guide is written so that you can follow
along and perform the steps as we present them to you.a
